Who were the traditional authorities on human anatomy before the Scientific Revolution?

The chapter i am doing is on the Scientific Revolution.Who were the traditional authorities on human anatomy before the Scientific Revolution?
The traditional thoughts on anatomy were derived from none other than Aristotle, a Greek philosopher. There wasn't a change in what people thought until the Scientific Revolution.



Once people like DaVinci were able to get more accurate sketches of anatomy and were able to view the heart and other organs of animals and realize the similarities, changes came fast and furious.



As an added note, barbers were the ones you would go to when you were sick. And that was a dangerous track to take. The barber would bleed the person who was ill, taking a cup of blood. This was supposed to get rid of the evil in the patient (bad blood), but what it really did was weakened the person.



How long did this go on? That is how George Washington was treated, and it killed him.Who were the traditional authorities on human anatomy before the Scientific Revolution?
